First, I decided on this color combo from The Playdate Cafe, which I thought could be a pretty interesting little mix. I never would have put these colors together on my own but have to admit, it really is a great combination I will certainly use again.
Next, I used the technique challenge from the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog, because I have never used the "Baby Wipe Technique" before and thought it looked interesting. Although I missed the cut off to enter their weekly challenge because I had such a rough start to my Monday. Boo! I used the "Striped Wipe Technique" to create my card. Click HERE for a awesome tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers.
My color combo was Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip, Dusty Durango (retired) and Bermuda Bay (retired). I went with the Fresh Cuts set because it was a bit of a larger set so the colors from the baby wipe would really stand out. Also it kind of fits the the whole "allergy theme" of the day. HaHa!
I did heat emboss the image and the sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink and clear embossing powder, although it is difficult to see in the photos. I distressed the embossed Bermuda Bay layer with Chocolate Chip ink and now kind of wish I did the same to all of the layers. No, I will NOT take the card apart and fix it...even though I may really want to. I added the twine under the sentiment for an "earthy feel" and then popped on three decorative copper brads.
It's a fairly simple card but it keeps the focus on the colors and the technique. I would love to hear what you think about it. I really appreciate all of the great feedback from all of the wonderful visitors who stop by my blog. It is an enormous source of encouragement for me and keeps me wanting to create new things. My blog will officially be 2 months old tomorrow! Yahoo! I never imagined I would ever start a creative blog, let alone, be able to keep up with it. Thanks for all of the kind words, it means more then you know! :)
