All Aboard the Birthday Train

Happy Thursday! I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far.

When I saw this fun color combo over at the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog this week, I immediately wanted to try it out. Pear Pizzazz is slowly becoming one of my favorite new colors. I'm not sure if it can replace my beloved Old Olive as my favorite green, but it's getting close.
Then I saw this sketch today at the Papercraft Star blog and decided to pair up the two challenges. I like how that third background panel in the sketch is kind of a reversed "L" shape. I thought that was pretty cool!
I started out intending to make the main image a big sentiment with a little sentiment and stamped accents but couldn't get it to look the way I wanted it to. Okay, I kept stamping it crooked so I got frustrated and just abandoned that idea. As I sat there thinking about upcoming occasions I needed cards for, I realized that I never seem to have any cards for kids in my card supply. Hmmm...so I opted for a simple kid's card using the Choo Choo set. The sentiment is a rub on because I didn't want my crooked, stamped sentiment trend to continue today. :)
I think it is safe to say that this color combo is approved and endorsed by Benjamin Maxwell, too. I swear this cat is always right in the middle of everything on my desk. If I could teach him how to operate the paper trimmer, I could get a lot more accomplished! :)

  3. this is wonderful! You nailed both these challenges with style! The train is sweet but your cat this the best. He makes me laugh that he's right there helping you craft. He looks like he's staking a claim to these papers. No Mom! I Haz Paprz!

  5. There are few things that I love more than papercrafting.... CATS are one of them and yours is too darling!! In fact, your little fur-ball reminds me of my scrap-cat Ziggy (who also loves to sit on my projects in the middle of creating them!)... at any rate... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your card. The colors are so much fun and the image along with the embossing... it all just comes together beautifully to make an awesome card. Thanks so much for joining us this week at Papercraft Star!
