Paper Players Challenge #61- Jaydee's Sketch Challenge

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! It's time for another fun challenge over at the Paper Players! Hooray! This week the lovely and talented Jaydee is our hostess and she has created a fun sketch to try. We hope you will play along and join us!
I decided to make a masculine-themed card to have on hand. For some reason, I never seem to have enough "guy cards" when I need them. For my image, I inked up the Sail Away stamp from the Summer Mini Catalog. This set is sold as a single stamp and there are only a few more days to snag it before the catty retires, too.

I used the (ret.) Sanded stamp for the background, I always regretted not buying this set when it was out. I was so excited when I saw that a stampin' friend (and fellow Paper Player) was getting rid of hers. Thanks, Ann! :) I also busted out the Color Spritzer tool to add more distressing to the background and the sentiment. I added an Antique brad, because it had a semi-nautical-vibe to it.
I shaded the image with watercolor pencils and then used an Aqua Painter to soften the colors a little. I really like how the white sails pop off the Crumb Cake card stock. I originally stamped the image on Very Vanilla card stock and it just didn't seem to stand out enough. I sponged all the edges on the card with Crumb Cake ink to rough it up a little, also.
Thanks so much for visiting today! Please stop by to see what the rest of the Design Team has created with this awesome sketch. We hope you have a chance to play along and share YOUR creation this week over at the Paper Players

  7. What a great card, Anne Marie! I love the sanded background and the color spritzer technique. I think you're channeling "Ann" - maybe she imparts some of her stamping genius with her sold stamp sets ? If that is the case, I should look into her next sale. :)

By the way, I think that sail boat could have taken a cruise today in my backyard which became a nice little lake/pond courtesy of Ms. Irene.

  12. Ann Marie what a great masucline card. I am so they retired this stamp and Sail Away..hope they both come back too. Your white sails stand out on the crumb cake so cool, and the brad IS nautical. Never noticed that before. Love the way you tied the wide ribbon too. Hugs.
