Perfect Blend for Paper Players #152

Hello there stamping friends! This week at the Paper Players, the ever-talented LeAnne is our hostess with a fabby "tic-tac-toe" challenge. Pick a line, across...down...or diagonally. Or if you are a SERIOUS over-achiever, go for the whole sha-bang and create a project featuring the entire board. For my card, I successfully achieved 5 of the nine "squares"...the bottom row and half of the middle row. I am on a huge kick with the color yellow right now, so I couldn't resist.
After I saw the new Stampin' Up catalog, the FIRST set I added to my wish list was Perfect Blend. As a self-admitted Starbucks addict, it called my name...in a really loud and overly-caffeinated way. Lol! I have also been itching to crack open my new Soho Subway DSP.  I'm originally from New York...NOT the "city" but "upstate". Something about this paper and the stamp set make me long for a trip back East...and coffee. Yes, I need coffee!

For the embossed element, I used both "dry-embossing" on the background DSP and the scalloped edge border. I "wet embossed" the coffee cup and attempted to shade it with a sponge dauber and a marker. I suck at distressing, I know this. Oh, and the sentiment is MEANT to be distressed...It wasn't me being a messy stamper. Haha! I paper-pieced, cut-out and popped-up the image. It's a simple card, with little details...I kind of like it! All of the supplies used to create this card are listed at the end of this post.
Please join us over at the Paper Players this week. The challenge is open through Friday, July 5th, 2013 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team. They are an amazing group of gals and I am honored to work with them every week.

Before I go, I wanted to share a photo of our little foster "prince" Tony Triple Paws. He is still with us and really coming out of his shell...slowly but surely. He is BFF's with the other kitties and loves lounging around. Isn't he gorgeous?

  1. Looooooooove this! I love how you incorporated that big yellow ampersand into your sketch...ties all the yellow bits together! I love coffee too (but not SB!!!) so I don't know why this set hasn't jumped into my shopping cart yet! It's so cute! And if you ever make a trip back east, you'd better look me up!

  3. Oh how I love the color combo-----and looks so good on your blog with your header ;-) I wouldn't have mixed the busy DSP and the Herringbone embossing folder....but you showed me how wrong I was! Another thing to put on my list....TO DO! Love it! THANKS for sharing!

  7. OK, from one enabler to another you have totally convinced me that I HAVE TO have this set...and I don't even drink coffee, I drink tea! LOL. Adore how you incorporated the ampersand into the design--"blends perfectly" with the coffee AND friends theme! Love the embossed DSP. All 'round fabulous, my friend! ((hugs))

  8. This sent has been on my list since the new catty was released, Anne Marie! After seeing your card, it is going straight to the top of my list. Like Nance, I am not a coffee drinker, but I think this is just the cutest stamp. Your card is absolutely adorable!

  9. Ann Marie I think this card looks just fine and I really like the popped up coffee cup and paper piecing. Also... your distressing looks fine too. I don't think there IS one way to distress... right? We're going with that! Hugs.

  10. Gorgeous, AM! The yellow really pops with the addition of the brown and textured elements you added. Like you, I am a Starbucks addict - I don't like coffee but do enjoy their other beverage offerings.

  11. Fabulous card (and I'm not just saying that because of the coffee)! The distressed sentiment threw me a little the first time I stamped with it...but I love the effect!

Your foster kitty is so sweet!

  12. AM - love the card... but the kitty... seriously.... he is gorgeous. reminds me of my gorgeous Kit-Kat. We picked her up as a young kitten when she had been thrown out of a moving car in front of us. We stopped traffic, picked her up, rushed her to a vet. Sadly, she lost her back leg, but she was the most gorgeous and independent cat. Prince Tony is gorgeous and I'm so glad he's coming out of his shell. What a wonderful pair you both are to love these animals so, it revives my faith in human nature!
