Hello Honey Duck for Paper Players #197

Hello and Happy Sunday! LeAnne has designed a really fun sketch for us this week at The Paper PlayersI always enjoy having a great sketch as a starting point for a card. It really helps get the creative mojo working.

I really wanted to play around with some of the new In Colors that will be in the upcoming Stampin' Up! catalog. The Moonlight Designer Series Paper Pad has some awesome patterns with the new colors, so I started there. Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey are two colors that look SO pretty together! Perfect for a baby card, using the new Something for Baby set, too. That little duck is so stinking cute!
The little banner sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and it was the perfect size. I added the Lost Lagoon ribbon at the very end because the card needed something there to fill the space. Since this card will be paired with a gift for a friend, I thought that layer with the ribbon kind of looked like a gift box. Maybe? Just me? Ok, I tried. Ha! I really like how this one came out and I hope you do too. Leave me a comment and let me know. I'd love to hear from you. :)
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, May 30th, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week. Have a great day!

I Like You for Paper Players #196

Hello there stamping friends! It's Sunday and time for another fun challenge over at the Paper Players! This week, Ann is our hostess and has selected a Clean and Simple (CAS) Floral Theme

I'm a wee bit late to the challenge today because I had to completely remake my card. Note to self: never ever, EVER again leave a large cup of ice water on your craft desk unattended when you leave the room for a bit. Complete disaster! Especially when you were really proud of the image you colored after about 6 attempts at it. Tears were shed. I just couldn't get this one to look as good as the soggy, ruined image...so I just conceded and am posting this as my finished project. Sigh.
I used the new Blendabilities Markers from Stampin' Up! to color the image. I know I will get better with these markers with some practice, but I love how you can really add a lot of dimension to your images with the different shades of colors. The stamp set is also brand new and coming out in the SU catalog June 1st. The set is called I Like You and is going to be available exclusively as a hostess set. It's a great set to practice your coloring skills!

I added a few accents to finish off the card, like the banner sentiment, the single button, a bit of sparkle and a pop of ruffled ribbon. I almost didn't add the layer of patterned paper, to keep it a little more CAS, but...well, you know how that goes for me. I like my layers! Haha!
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, May 23rd, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Before I sign off, I wanted to share a photo of our newest foster dog. Please say hello to Anka. She is a gorgeous German Shepherd who will be with us for 2 weeks and then she will be making the trip to Colorado to (hopefully) find her forever home. She came to the shelter very pregnant, was saved from euthanasia by Tracy's Dogs and gave birth to 10 babies while she was at the rescue. Now that the puppies are weaned, she has been spayed and is just hanging out here to relax and be spoiled. She's a big girl with a big heart! I'm so glad she has her second chance. Please spay and neuter your pets and remember to "adopt don't shop" for your next furry family member. Have a great day! :)

Something for Baby for Paper Players #195

Hello stamping friends! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! This week at the Paper Players, we have a fun color trio brought to you by Sandy. I decided it would be a fun to make a baby card with the brand new Something for Baby stamp set, which also has coordinating die cuts to go along with it. It will be coming out in the new Stampin' Up! catalog in June. The sentiment is also from a new set called Something to Say.
For my layout, I was inspired by Narelle's awesome sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches
There are lots of layers on this card. Shocking, right? Ha! I also had a little trouble getting the sentiment to fit, so I stamped it on the little wooden circle for something a little different. I haven't used those little wooden accents yet and I really like how it adds an extra pop of dimension to the card. I added the little silver hanger at the last minute and after I did all I could think about was maybe I shouldn't have. Did you see the movie Mommie Dearest? Wire hangers are NOT necessarily always a good thing. Eeek!
Here is a quick look at the inside of the card. I smudged a little ink on the bottom left corner, so I added the punched detail so I wouldn't have to redo it. Phew!

Mixed Bunch Mother's Day for Paper Players #194

Hello stampers! Whew, what a weekend! I'm running a little behind with my Design Team card for the Paper Players challenge...but here is it. This week at the Paper Players, the lovely Jaydee is our hostess with a Mother's Day theme challenge. Perfect to get those cards made and mailed just in time for Mother's Day!
I received a brand new box of Stampin' Up! goodies from the upcoming catalog last Friday and couldn't wait to use some of them on this card! Two of those colors on the card are the all new 2014-2015 In Colors: Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey. Aren't they pretty? The Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack is also brand new along with the Stitched Satin Ribbon. All the other products are listed on the table below.

Of course, I added a bunch of layers to this card, because I really wanted to showcase the colors. Also, I really like to make sure every card I make requires a ton of extra postage to mail. Haha! I am "layer-obsessed" sometimes. I completely admit it.
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, May 9th, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week. Have a great day!
